Human Growth Hormone is the peptide hormone of the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland, which is used in sports to form a muscular relief. The study involved 21 people aged 61 to 81 years. Generally healthy, but they had a low level of IGF-1. Twelve men were injected with a somatotropin drug three times a week for six months. The other nine men did not get injections. People who received somatotropin injections had a reduction in fat tissue, increased muscle mass, and improved mobility in the lumbar spine.
The media picked up these conclusions, but ignored the warnings of Dr. D. Radman, who were part of the study. In particular, these warnings talked about the side effects that some participants who received growth hormone had, and that long-term effects of the drug are unknown. Dr. Radman also wrote in his report on the high cost of such treatment and that by performing exercise programs according to age, one can achieve a similar result without injections. Journalists did not take this into account.
As with any medical advertising, people are sold the idea that pills and injections can treat their problems. From this a multibillion-dollar industry was born. All sorts of “anti-aging specialists” with new tests to determine the biological age have appeared everywhere. One they recommend expensive injections of hormones in combination with author’s food additives to reverse aging processes, to others they suggest increasing the growth and weight. What the majority of these “experts” really do is reverse the bank account of their clients and increase their costs for treatment.
Years later, due to the constant abuse of Radman’s 1990 article, the editorial board of The New England Journal of Medicine took an unprecedented step by adding clarification on its website.

To be completely honest, it must be said that there is a need for injections of growth hormone for some population groups.
